School Captain Speech (REAL)

Hello Everybody,
This is the speech that I presented at the speech day. Please Enjoy!
Good morning students, distinguished guest, teachers and Mrs T. My name is Zai Ali and I am your 2011 candidate for school captain.
I started my education at Jamboree heights 6 years ago. During this time, Jamboree Heights has instilled the value of learning for life. Understanding that learning is not just from books, but also from our relationship with others.
Since Grade 1 I have made many friendships with students and teachers alike. Some of these relationships will last a lifetime.
So who is Zai Ali?
I am someone who enjoys learning, playing sports and music. I most enjoy Math, English, Technology and Chinese.
This year I represented the school in the Opt-Minds competition at Bridgidine and the Chinese Cultural day at Centenary High School.
I am a member of the school soccer and Flag Tag team. I also represented Jamboree Heights at the zone trials for soccer. I am a member of the Senior School band where I play percussion. This year we enjoyed a successful World music concert.
With encouragement from my year 5 teachers I entered the Andy Griffiths National Writing Competition. Where I came second and won prizes for the school.
Most of all I am a person who enjoys life. I believe that laughter is an important part of anyone’s life. And those who know my mother will truly understand. I believe I am a kind and considerate person to all my fellow students and teachers.
Learning from my parents and teachers, I believe responsibility is something that we all should accept. No matter in a good or bad situation. We should always take ownership of our actions.
Persistence is something that I try to use every day of my life. So when something gets the better of me, I get up, brush myself off and then try again.
With both persistence and resilience I have been able to overcome many tough times and enjoy the rewards of my efforts.
With all these tools, I have become a more confident person. This has enabled me to present this speech to you today.
If I was to be your school captain I want to see the school enter more competitions, such as music, sports and especially the work of the mind. I want to see the relationships between Students and Teachers to grow.
To my fellow classmates, as the year comes to an end. We have the realization that next year is one of great importance.
It is the end of our primary school year and the dawn of our young adult lives.
Let it be a year for us to shine. It is a time for us to ignite the light within and to show all before us what we are worth.
So join me and celebrate our final year with excitement and in the knowledge that we will make a difference.
Thank You
